About Gimp

CVE-2026-58380 affects Gimp, a product from Gimp. Before acting, confirm where Gimp runs in your estate, who owns it and whether it is reachable from the internet, because exposure decides real risk more than the score alone.

What the flaw is

In plain terms: A flaw was found in GIMP's PNM file format parser. When parsing a specially crafted PNM file, the pnmscanner_gettoken() function writes a null terminator one byte past the end of a stack-allocated buffer due to an off-by-one error in the loop boundary check. This could lead to memory corruption, potentially resulting in denial of service or arbitrary code execution.

Based on its CVSS vector, the flaw needs local or adjacent access, needs some level of access, and relies on a user taking an action. Apply the vendor fix and confirm exposure on internet facing and business critical assets first.

How to detect it

  • Inventory every instance of Gimp and record the running version against the affected range above.
  • Check external attack surface scans for internet facing instances of the component.
  • Review logs on affected systems for unusual requests, errors or new processes around the vulnerable function.
  • Confirm with an authenticated vulnerability scan once your scanner has a check for this CVE.

How to fix it

  • Apply the fixed version of Gimp named in the vendor advisory.
  • If patching must wait, restrict network access to the affected service and put it behind authentication or a web application firewall rule.
  • Rescan after the change to prove the exposure is gone, then close the ticket.

CVE-2026-59091
Gimp

A flaw was found in GIMP's file format plugins, including those for PSD and PAA files. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted image file. This could lead to unexpected application behavior or other potential security impacts without requiring further user interaction.

CVE-2026-59090
Gimp

A flaw was found in GIMP's PSD file format plugin. This vulnerability, an unsigned integer underflow in the `block_rem` variable, occurs when a user opens a specially crafted `.psd` image file. The underflow leads to parser confusion, enabling an attacker to inject arbitrary data as layer resource blocks. This can ultimately result in arbitrary code execution, allowing the attacker to run malicious code on the victim's system.

CVE-2026-59087
Gimp

A flaw was found in the GIMP image manipulation program, specifically within its Seattle Filmworks file loader. A remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by tricking a user into opening a specially crafted Seattle Filmworks file. This could lead to a heap overflow, allowing the attacker to write several kilobytes of controlled data beyond the intended memory buffer. Such an overflow can result in memory corruption, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service.

CVE-2026-58384
Gimp

A flaw was found in GIMP's PSD parser. An integer overflow in read_RLE_channel() can cause an undersized heap allocation for the RLE row-length table, after which subsequent per-row writes corrupt heap memory. This could lead to memory corruption, potentially resulting in denial of service or arbitrary code execution.

A flaw was found in gimp. This buffer overflow vulnerability in the GIF image loading component's `ReadJeffsImage` function allows an attacker to write beyond an allocated buffer by processing a specially crafted GIF file. This can lead to a denial of service or potentially arbitrary code execution.

CVE-2006-10003
Toddr Xml

XML::Parser versions through 2.47 for Perl has an off-by-one heap buffer overflow in st_serial_stack. In the case (stackptr == stacksize - 1), the stack will NOT be expanded. Then the new value will be written at location (++stackptr), which equals stacksize and therefore falls just outside the allocated buffer. The bug can be observed when parsing an XML file with very deep element nesting
