About Bulwarkmail Webmail

CVE-2026-35391 affects Bulwarkmail Webmail, a product from Bulwarkmail. Before acting, confirm where Bulwarkmail Webmail runs in your estate, who owns it and whether it is reachable from the internet, because exposure decides real risk more than the score alone.

What the flaw is

In plain terms: Bulwark Webmail is a self-hosted webmail client for Stalwart Mail Server. Prior to 1.4.11, the getClientIP() function in lib/admin/session.ts trusted the first (leftmost) entry of the X-Forwarded-For header, which is fully controlled by the client. An attacker could forge their source IP address to bypass IP-based rate limiting (enabling brute-force attacks against the admin login) or forge audit log entries (making malicious activity appear to originate from arbitrary IP addresses). This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.11.

Based on its CVSS vector, the flaw can be reached over the network, needs no login, and needs no user interaction. Apply the vendor fix and confirm exposure on internet facing and business critical assets first.

  • Check external attack surface scans for internet facing instances of the component.
  • Review logs on affected systems for unusual requests, errors or new processes around the vulnerable function.
  • Confirm with an authenticated vulnerability scan once your scanner has a check for this CVE.

How to fix it

  • Apply the fixed version of Bulwarkmail Webmail named in the vendor advisory.
  • If patching must wait, restrict network access to the affected service and put it behind authentication or a web application firewall rule.
  • Rescan after the change to prove the exposure is gone, then close the ticket.

CVE-2026-35389
Bulwarkmail Webmail

Bulwark Webmail is a self-hosted webmail client for Stalwart Mail Server. Prior to 1.4.11, S/MIME signature verification did not validate the certificate trust chain (checkChain: false). Any email signed with a self-signed or untrusted certificate was displayed as having a valid signature. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.4.11.

CVE-2026-34834
Bulwarkmail Webmail

Bulwark Webmail is a self-hosted webmail client for Stalwart Mail Server. Prior to version 1.4.10, the verifyIdentity() function contained logic that returned true if no session cookies were present. This allowed unauthenticated attackers to bypass security checks and access/modify user settings via the /api/settings endpoint by providing arbitrary headers. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.10.

CVE-2026-34833
Bulwarkmail Webmail

Bulwark Webmail is a self-hosted webmail client for Stalwart Mail Server. Prior to version 1.4.10, the GET /api/auth/session endpoint previously included the user's plaintext password in the JSON response. This exposed credentials to browser logs, local caches, and network proxie. This issue has been patched in version 1.4.10.

HIGH8.8
CVE-2026-9561
Eclipse Kura

Eclipse Kura versions prior to 5.6.2 trust the client-supplied X-Forwarded-For HTTP header as the authoritative source of the client IP address in audit log entries. The org.eclipse.kura.web2 (Web Console) and org.eclipse.kura.rest.provider (REST API) components use this header as the primary IP source when initializing audit context, and org.eclipse.kura.jetty.customizer unconditionally installs Jetty's ForwardedRequestCustomizer on all HTTP/HTTPS connectors, causing HttpServletRequest.getRemoteAddr() to reflect the attacker-controlled header value. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to bypass IP-based brute-force protections — such as fail2ban — by spoofing the logged IP address to a non-routable value, allowing a brute-force attack to proceed undetected, or to cause a denial of service against a third party by injecting a victim's IP address and triggering a ban on that address.

CVE-2025-69240
Raytha

Raytha CMS allows an attacker to spoof `X-Forwarded-Host` or `Host` headers to attacker controlled domain. The attacker (who knows the victim's email address) can force the server to send an email with password reset link pointing to the domain from spoofed header. When victim clicks the link, browser sends request to the attacker’s domain with the token in the path allowing the attacker to capture the token. This allows the attacker to reset victim's password and take over the victim's account. This issue was fixed in version 1.4.6.
