About Tornadoweb Tornado

CVE-2026-31958 affects Tornadoweb Tornado, a product from Tornadoweb. Before acting, confirm where Tornadoweb Tornado runs in your estate, who owns it and whether it is reachable from the internet, because exposure decides real risk more than the score alone.

What the flaw is

In plain terms: Tornado is a Python web framework and asynchronous networking library. In versions of Tornado prior to 6.5.5, the only limit on the number of parts in multipart/form-data is the max_body_size setting (default 100MB). Since parsing occurs synchronously on the main thread, this creates the possibility of denial-of-service due to the cost of parsing very large multipart bodies with many parts. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.5.5.

The weakness class is Uncontrolled Resource Consumption. An attacker can exhaust CPU, memory or connections.

Based on its CVSS vector, the flaw can be reached over the network, needs no login, and needs no user interaction. Apply the vendor fix and confirm exposure on internet facing and business critical assets first.

How to detect it

  • Inventory every instance of Tornadoweb Tornado and record the running version against the affected range above.
  • Check external attack surface scans for internet facing instances of the component.
  • Review logs on affected systems for unusual requests, errors or new processes around the vulnerable function.
  • Confirm with an authenticated vulnerability scan once your scanner has a check for this CVE.

How to fix it

  • Apply the fixed version of Tornadoweb Tornado named in the vendor advisory.
  • If patching must wait, restrict network access to the affected service and put it behind authentication or a web application firewall rule.
  • Rescan after the change to prove the exposure is gone, then close the ticket.

TOTOLINK X5000R v9.1.0cu_2415_B20250515 contains an argument injection vulnerability in the setDiagnosisCfg handler of the /usr/sbin/lighttpd executable. The ip parameter is retrieved via websGetVar and passed to a ping command through CsteSystem without validating if the input starts with a hyphen (-). This allows remote authenticated attackers to inject arbitrary command-line options into the ping utility, potentially leading to a Denial of Service (DoS) by causing excessive resource consumption or prolonged execution.
