About Bigbluebutton
CVE-2026-27466 affects Bigbluebutton, a product from Bigbluebutton. Before acting, confirm where Bigbluebutton runs in your estate, who owns it and whether it is reachable from the internet, because exposure decides real risk more than the score alone.
What the flaw is
In plain terms: BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom. In versions 3.0.21 and below, the official documentation for "Server Customization" on Support for ClamAV as presentation file scanner contains instructions that leave a BBB server vulnerable for Denial of Service. The flawed command exposes both ports (3310 and 7357) to the internet. A remote attacker can use this to send complex or large documents to clamd and waste server resources, or shutdown the clamd process. The clamd documentation explicitly warns about exposing this port. Enabling ufw (ubuntu firewall) during install does not help, because Docker routes container traffic through the nat table, which is not managed or restricted by ufw. Rules installed by ufw in the filter table have no effect on docker traffic. In addition, the provided example also mounts /var/bigbluebutton with write permissions into the container, which should not be required. Future vulnerabilities in clamd may allow attackers to manipulate files in that folder. Users are unaffected unless they have opted in to follow the extra instructions from BigBlueButton's documentation. This issue has been fixed in version 3.0.22.
The weakness class is Exposure of Resource to Wrong Sphere. A resource is reachable by people who should not reach it.
Based on its CVSS vector, the flaw can be reached over the network, needs no login, and needs no user interaction. Apply the vendor fix and confirm exposure on internet facing and business critical assets first.

How to detect it
- Inventory every instance of Bigbluebutton and record the running version against the affected range above.
- Check external attack surface scans for internet facing instances of the component.
- Review logs on affected systems for unusual requests, errors or new processes around the vulnerable function.
- Confirm with an authenticated vulnerability scan once your scanner has a check for this CVE.
How to fix it
- Apply the fixed version of Bigbluebutton named in the vendor advisory.
- If patching must wait, restrict network access to the affected service and put it behind authentication or a web application firewall rule.
- Rescan after the change to prove the exposure is gone, then close the ticket.
CTEM action plan
| CTEM stage | What to do for this CVE |
|---|---|
| Scope | Add every business service that depends on Bigbluebutton to the current CTEM cycle. |
| Discover | Find all instances, including shadow and cloud deployments, and record versions and exposure. |
| Prioritize | Rank using EPSS and CVSS together with asset exposure and business impact. |
| Validate | Confirm the flaw is reachable and exploitable in your environment and that compensating controls work. |
| Mobilize | Assign the fix to the asset owner with a due date matched to the priority, then verify closure. |

Improper Authorization vulnerability in nerves-hub nerves_hub_web allows cross-organization device control via device bulk actions and device update API. Missing authorization checks in the device bulk actions and device update API endpoints allow authenticated users to target devices belonging to other organizations and perform actions outside of their privilege level. An attacker can select devices outside of their organization by manipulating device identifiers and perform management actions on them, such as moving them to products they control. This may allow attackers to interfere with firmware updates, access device functionality exposed by the platform, or disrupt device connectivity. In environments where additional features such as remote console access are enabled, this could lead to full compromise of affected devices. This issue affects nerves_hub_web: from 1.0.0 before 2.4.0.
Symfony is a PHP framework for web and console applications and a set of reusable PHP components. Prior to 5.4.52, 6.4.40, 7.4.12, and 8.0.12, the server:log listener (Symfony\Bridge\Monolog\Command\ServerLogCommand) binds to 0.0.0.0:9911 by default and processes each received frame with unserialize(base64_decode($message)) without authentication, integrity checks, or an allowed_classes allowlist, allowing any reachable host to submit attacker-chosen serialized PHP payloads that can crash the listener and may trigger object-injection gadget effects. This issue is fixed in versions 5.4.52, 6.4.40, 7.4.12, and 8.0.12.
WWBN AVideo is an open source video platform. Prior to version 24.0, the official docker-compose.yml publishes the memcached service on host port 11211 (0.0.0.0:11211) with no authentication, while the Dockerfile configures PHP to store all user sessions in that memcached instance. An attacker who can reach port 11211 can read, modify, or flush session data — enabling session hijacking, admin impersonation, and mass session destruction without any application-level authentication. This issue has been patched in version 24.0.
Claude Code is an agentic coding tool. Prior to version 2.1.2, Claude Code's bubblewrap sandboxing mechanism failed to properly protect the .claude/settings.json configuration file when it did not exist at startup. While the parent directory was mounted as writable and .claude/settings.local.json was explicitly protected with read-only constraints, settings.json was not protected if it was missing. This allowed malicious code running inside the sandbox to create this file and inject persistent hooks (such as SessionStart commands) that would execute with host privileges when Claude Code was restarted. This issue has been patched in version 2.1.2.
